Carla Stevens,
M.E. Des. Carla has completed her thesis in the Master of Environmental Design in Environmental Science at the University of Calgary. Her academic research includes: watershed function and management, ecological infrastructure planning and design, the spatial ecology of water/land interfaces and human land-use activities. Over the past six years Carla has worked and studied in coastal, freshwater and prairie-mountain regions across Canada. In Ontario she worked for the Ministry of the Environment conducting surface water studies on lakes in the Haliburton Region. She also completed community-based research for the New Rural Economy project – a national research initiative funded by Social Sciences and Humanity Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) which focuses on increasing community capacity in rural communities across Canada. Carla has been a junior consultant on several community-based environmental projects ranging from waterfront design to surface water quality monitoring and management. She has direct experience conducting surface water quality monitoring and soil assessments and is familiar with the regulatory policies related to water in Alberta. Carla has worked for provincial and local governments as well as local stakeholder groups. |
