HIGHLIGHTS:

With training in the bioengineering of drastically disturbed sites, Corvidae has implemented bioengineering methods for slope stabilization, soil preservation and permanent reclamation. This method is brilliant! The concept is to mimic nature – creating rough surfaces and using local vegetation species – by being creative and adapting available materials to the local terrain through the use of live staking, wattles, y-drains, transplanting and more. The result is superior reclamation success that is extremely cost effective.

One project Corvidae has been working on is the restoration of areas at Sunshine Ski Hill affected by the 2013 floods in Alberta. This project employed bioengineering stabilization and erosion control techniques installed by a crew of 8 people using living materials, i.e. live willow stakes, transplanted forbs, etc. There have been tremendous success with this project and Corvidae continues to work with Sunshine to provide solutions for eroded areas.

She is already whipping us in to shape with new processes and procedures and we are delighted about it. Carrie is also know for her snappy sense of humour and the sweetest of sweet treats that she happily shares with us. She started her time with us with chocolate chip cookies and a moving sililoquy from Lord of the Rings. And the rest is history!
